Obstetrician Dr. JW William lays out his new ‘business plan’ to create and finance a national system of general hospitals by creating a new and profitable market for hospital services — the elective hospitalization of healthy childbearing women as maternity patients.
He developed this plan as an effective and logical way to generate a regular and dependable flow of revenue that was to be used to upgrade small private hospitals into fully-equipped community hospitals able to provide comprehensive services (surgery, X-ray, clinical labs) of a general hospitals as part of a nationwide system of modern general hospital.
